The object of the Boys' Brigade is the advancement
of Christ's Kingdom among boys and the promotion of habits of obedience,
reverence, discipline, self respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness Our values at 1st Yeovil In 1891, the 1st Yeovil Company was formed and it has run continuously ever since; even through the two world wars. 1st Yeovil has enjoyed an illustrious and successful past which we are proud to say we continue to this day. The company has a dedicated staff and a good group of lads that enjoy a wide range variety of activities. The Brigade object remains the same but the way that we promote it has changed. There are diverse distractions in youth culture today, some good, many bad. It is our vocation to offer the Brigade life for local lads to benefit as many have through the years. The essence of the Object is of equal importance today as it was in 1883. We believe there is so much latent talent in youth today it is our goal to catch and harness the energy and channel it properly. The BB offers a lot to boys, the chance to meet new friends, try new hobbies, enjoy competition and challenge, the opportunity to develop leadership qualities, to learn about their community and hopefully contribute to it and above all the feeling of belonging to something genuine and worthwhile. We meet at South Street Baptist Church on Wednesday evenings. Any parent, or boys interested in joining, please drop in and see the good work we do first hand. Please do feel welcome !! |
